Why must I pry through dry cavities
To find hope in my own universe?
Why must the rivers winding around my hips
Remind me that this situation could be worse?
The locusts suck my lips dewdrop free yet
the other half too, believes.

I know I'm not only one
who hears the beating of one thousand drums
all in unison, plaguing my ears like nightly thunder
but am I the only one who wonders,
if in a crowd, am I alone?
The crowd itself rolls its eyes and
the other half too, believes.

My mother never told me that faeries did exist
my father was never there to give me goodnight kisses,
But to this day I hold on,
To my simple fantasies.
Half the world laughs at me and
the other half too, believes.
It all started with the line, "and the other half too believes".

P.S. I kind of like this piece. It's Megan inspired.
